The darkest heart can bruise and bleed The smartest start can still mislead I had to be alone to see just you. I tried to live through the eyes I saw The pleasing me turned mean and raw I don't know why you stay so close to me. There is a way. I held my breath through the salty air Your gravity is what held me there I was trying to leave There was no doubt in the wake of the emptiness Your touch grew cold and it was remiss I finally found my legs and I called out - There is a way. I hold me breath in this salty air The truth has died but we cannot care In the death defying show That we can Love Here I lie right next to you Anticipating all the things you'll do And I know tomorrow The sun will rise. There is a way.

about

Session No. 2 of Playing with Strangers at Soundhouse.
We originally had another guitarist lined up but he got sick and couldn't make it. Forging forward, Matt and I were preparing to do the whole thing as a Bass & Drums duo and I brought what little I had in the way of keyboard sounds. Chris Chesnutt, the guy taking up the engineering duties for PwS, had just recorded Thom Celica and suggested that their guitarist, Ricky DeLong might be available - and lived just across the street. After some hesitation on my part (what if he couldn't cut it and I had to tell him no? What if we went forward and he fell apart? It was Show time... ) and an offer from Chris to handle it if it went sour,I decided to give him a go.
About ten minutes after plugging in his guitar, I knew things we were in for a fun ride!
I have made a lot of recordings. I still like to listen to this one. I think you will too.

about

Playing With Strangers at Soundhouse Sessions Seattle, Washington

Playing with Strangers is an idea, a workshop, an experiment that takes place at Soundhouse in Seattle WA.
Every month or so, a new group of artisist convene at Soundhouse to write, record and perform about an EP – all in roughly a day and a half. They end up with studio versions created during the day and “live” versions performed that evening in front of an intimate audience of friends and fans.
